Overview

The X100 line has been the cult favorite of street photographers for over a decade. The VI adds IBIS, the new 40MP sensor, and 6.2K video to the formula without changing what makes the camera special.

The lens

The 23mm f/2 (35mm equivalent) is sharp from f/2.8 onward. Wide open it has a dreamy softness portrait shooters love. Hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder is still magic.

In real use

It fits in a jacket pocket. The leaf shutter is silent. People don't notice you taking photos. That changes what you shoot.

Film Simulations

Reala Ace, Classic Chrome, and Acros monochrome make JPEGs you can post straight from the camera.

Verdict

The most fun-to-use camera on the market. The only real problem is finding one — Fuji can't make them fast enough.

What we love

  • Compact and beautiful
  • 40MP sensor with IBIS
  • Hybrid optical/EVF
  • Leaf shutter is silent

Where it falls short

  • Fixed 35mm-equiv lens won't suit everyone
  • Massive backorders
  • Battery life is modest

FAQ

Can I change the lens?

No — it's a fixed 23mm f/2. Fuji sells wide and tele conversion adapters.

Is it weather sealed?

Only with the optional adapter ring + protector filter installed.

X100VI vs Ricoh GR IIIx?

X100VI has the viewfinder and IBIS. GR IIIx is smaller and cheaper. Both are great.
